Behind the sanguaga lens

Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.

Don McCullin

My name is Eduardo Nakamura.

I am the father of the princesses Isabela and Gabriela, and the husband of lovely Fabiola. Jobwise, I am a Brazilian Professor of Computer Science in the Universidade Federal do Amazonas, Manaus, Brazil. In my spare time, I am an enthusiast photographer.

My dad was an amateur photographer in the 1980s. As a child, I used to play in dad’s homemade small darkroom, which was built where originally was the kitchen. I grew up watching my dad's perfectionism, who was always searching for the best photography results, given his resource-constrained darkroom. I am fascinated by candid photography, and interested in capturing the emotions, cultures and stories behind the human eyes. I was born and created in the city of Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon.

When I take a photo I am either having fun or learning something new, often both experiences. I hope you also have fun or learn something when you see my photos, possibly a different fun, a different learning from mine. Please, feel encouraged to leave your comments and share my work with your friends.

*Thanks to my friend Gedeon Santos for the nice photo of me that you see in the right.
